Data Types and Grounds on Which Data is Processed
As a healthcare service we need to collect personal information about your health in order to create and maintain medical records and, thus, provide you with the best possible treatment. Your requesting treatment and our agreement to provide that care constitutes a contract. You can, of course, refuse to provide the information, but if you were to do that, we would be unable to provide treatment.
When you contact us via the website we will collect your basic contact details: this allows us to process your enquiry as efficiently as possible.
We also think that it is important to collect your contact details so that we can contact you in order to confirm your appointments with us or to update you on matters related to your medical care.
We will also collect the details of your GP practice – this is used only if contact with your GP is required in the interest of your care, and never without your prior knowledge or consent.
Different information types have different retention periods which we comply with. We have a legal obligation to retain your medical records for 8 years after your most recent appointment (or up until age 25, whichever is longer), but after this period you can ask us to delete your records if you so wish. After 8 years (or age 25 if longer) we will dispose of your records.
